Cook’s Gun Repair and Customizing is the shop of Colorado Springs American Gun Institute (AGI) certified gunsmith, Jim Cook.  After serving in Vietnam as a SEABEE in the Navy, Jim completed a four year apprenticeship to become a machinist, building equipment for the Navy at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center.  Later, he graduated from college and became a mechanical engineer.  When he retired in 2011, he decided to return to his love of working on machines and earned a certification as a gunsmith from the American Gunsmith Institute.

Our cerakoter, Dr. Richard Hughbank, has been cerakoting firearms since 2015.  He is a 100% disabled, combat veteran, retired Army Military Police officer and a retired college professor of homeland security studies.  He uses both oven cured and air cured cerakote products and cerakotes with an air brush gun to ensure all parts are evenly sprayed and the thickness meets the specifications of the CerakoteⓇ company.
